Sandra Higgins in discussion with Ciara Plunkett, KFM Radio, on Savino’s proposed “protection” of children’s health

Elvira Savino, of centre-right party Forza Italia, has proposed legislation under which parents who provide children aged 16 and under with a “diet lacking essential elements for healthy growth” face up to two years of prison. Commenting on the proposed legislation, Savino has reportedly stated that the increasing number of vegans in Italy are engaged in “radicalising” their children by “imposing” on them a restrictive diet that lacks sufficient nutrition for physical and cognitive development.
Sandra Higgins criticises the proposed legislation and defends the right of vegans to rear their children with ethical values. You can listen to the five-minute interview here.
